The Honey-Pot Ant gets its name from its unique "Replete" caste, many ants have this trait, and it is a caste of workers used solely for food storage and preservation, however Myrmecocystus Species take this caste to the next level, having workers almost completely spherical, with gasters swelling up to 3x the length of the head and thorax.

This species is notoriously difficult to found, so if you are looking for honey-pots but don't have much experience, we would recommend Proformica Ferreri, as it is much easier, and is closer to home for us here in the UK, though it is less colourful.

They need a constant supply of water, as with any ant, and also Sugar water, to be able to make the most out of their repletes.
